Eric is a writer and a teacher from Kailua, Hawaii, where he still lives with his wife and dogs. He writes a column about Hawaii for Honolulu Civil Beat, and a column about fighting for Sherdog. He also writes book reviews, essays, and occasionally short fiction and poetry.
His work has been published in Bamboo Ridge, The Classical, GEN, Harvard Review Online, Human Parts, Ka Wai Ola, Talking Writing and Vice Sports, among others. His writing has been included on the Longreads annual Best of Sports Writing list, and has received notable mention in Best American Sports Writing.
He has also lived in California, Canada and Korea. Anything else there is to know is probably in his work.
